FIG. 01 · N121 · Iodine adsorption number 121 ± 5 g/kg

N121 carbon black is the most aggressive reinforcing grade in the catalog: an iodine adsorption of 121 g/kg, an oil absorption of 132 ml/100 g and a nitrogen surface area of 122 m²/g. Together, these values deliver the highest achievable abrasion resistance.

Where it is needed

Off-the-road tires on mining, construction and agricultural machinery run on sharp stone and rock; here, resistance to cutting and chipping matters more than wear. N121 is designed for these conditions.

Processing note

The combination of high structure and high surface area markedly raises compound viscosity. Mixing temperature, mixing time and the order of oil addition should be specifically optimized for this grade.

Applications

Off-the-road tire treads, tire tread layers, conveyor belts and other industrial rubber products that require high strength.

How does it work?

Frequently Asked Questions About This Product

Why does N121 give the highest abrasion resistance?

An iodine adsorption of 121 g/kg, an oil absorption of 132 ml/100 g and a nitrogen surface area of 122 m²/g together produce the highest achievable reinforcement in the range.

Should I change my mixing settings when using N121?

Yes. The combination of high structure and high surface area markedly raises compound viscosity. Mixing temperature, mixing time and the order of oil addition should be specifically optimized for this grade.

What packaging is N121 available in?

N121 is supplied in 1,000 kg double-valve PP-PE jumbo bags. A 20' container takes 10 pallets (10,000 kg), a 40' container 20 pallets (20,000 kg) and a truck 22 pallets (22,000 kg). If you need kraft paper bags, send us your request and we will check availability.

Does N121 come with a certificate of analysis and a safety data sheet?

Yes. Every shipment is sent with a certificate of analysis (CoA) for that batch, issued by an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory. We send the safety data sheet (SDS) on request; if you would like to see a sample report before ordering, you can ask for one through the quote form.
